Penguins are taking over

Library's all over the world are getting worried that penguins are taking over the running of libraries, driving cars and who knows what else.

Taking on board the Antarctica display, one over friendly penguin argued with the driver that she wanted to drive the car. In the end the librarian won out, but Mrs Penguin insisted on sitting in the front seat. Police were quite happy as she did condescend to wear her seat belt.

State Library Travelling Treasurs

What a pleasure it was to host the State Library's Travelling Treasures. After moving the children's section of the library temporarily, members of the public were delighted with the items on display and the look back through history to our beginnings in Australia.

Covering "The Voyage of Governor Phillip to Botany Bay" "The Diary of Samuel Lazarus and the Eureka Rebellion" and "a book of sketches by Ronald Searle - POW on the Thai Burma Railway and Changi Prison", the audience were spellbound as they listened and looked at these precious documents.

Thanks must go to the State Library for taking the initiative in bringing old historic documents out to rural Victoria to enable the average person to have the opportunity normally not readily available.

I work in a library, not cos it's a job, but because it is a way of life. Reading opens the mind to a wealth of knowledge and takes the reader into a world that has no limits.

The love of my live is my constant companion - my dog. She never doubts my love, though she can give me dirty looks if I don't do what she wants. We go for a walk everyday that is good for her as she has lost weight and good for me ( I haven't lost any weight).
